Workshop Recording: Infertility in SRHR Lens: Policy & Practices

With the assistance of Share-Net Bangladesh, the Centre for Men & Masculinities Studies (CMMS) carried out a study in 2021 titled “Infertility in SRHR Lens: Policy & Practices.” They held an online advocacy workshop where honorable government officials and other relevant stakeholders participated as part of the study.

Despite the government’s ardent efforts to provide access to sexual and reproductive health education by including chapters on puberty concerns in textbooks, a significant part of children and adults are deprived of or given incorrect information about their sexual health. To avoid the shame of “talking sexual” at the adolescent level, the government has glued the chapters on SRHR and adolescents.

When it comes to discussing sex and sexual health, there is frequently a culture of silence in our deeply religious and conservative country. Additionally, infertility is one of the least spoken topics in Bangladesh owing to societal shame and ignorance. Through a number of action plans and policy papers, CMMS has been steadfastly striving to dispel this stigma and misinformation.
