Global Health PhD & Postdoc Writing Retreat

This online Global Health Writing Retreat by UMC Utrecht will offer participants the opportunity to join various online workshops to improve their academic writing and communication skills and meet other global health PhD candidates and early career researchers.
Eleven online half-day workshops are aimed to improve academic skills, relevant for early career researchers, PhD candidates, and postdocs. Over the course of three weeks, experts and senior researchers will facilitate (interactive) workshops, sharing the most common pitfalls in academic writing, and providing tips and tools to give engaging presentations, write stunning papers, and obtain research grants.
Please note that a limited number of spots is available (max. 25).

This online series is organized by Julius Global Health, Uniting Streams, Action on Preeclampsia Ghana, North-West University South Africa, and The Netherlands Society for Tropical Medicine and International Health.

Target audience
PhD candidates and postdocs. Our target audience are researchers working in Global Health, but if space allows, others can also join!
Aim of the course
By the end of the retreat, participants have improved their writing, presenting and data visualization skills, and have had the chance to meet other global health PhD students and postdocs.
Study load
Eleven 3 to 4-hour workshops in May. Some workshops may require preparatory work. All workshops will be in the morning (NL time) because of the time zones we would like to cover.
Costs
Different registration fees apply:
- Full/regular fee: €395,-
- MIC or LIC* based participants: €195,-
- APECGH nominees (5 max.): €150,-
- NWU nominees (3 max.); 150 euros,-
*LIC and MIC are lower and (upper and lower-)middle income countries, as classified by the World Bank. Participants can apply for the LIC/MIC fee based on the location of the institution they are affiliated to. Limited discounted places available.
Application
Applicants will be asked to provide a CV (max. 1 page) and a short motivation letter, explaining how you will apply the acquired skills in your (global) research activities (max. 300 words).
Admitted applicants (max. 25) will receive a message of acceptance via email.
