In Colombia, 50% of people over the age of 60 rate sexuality as something important or very important in their lives. However, it is falsely but commonly known that human beings disconnect from their sex life when ageing and becoming older, with a belief that physical changes attributed to age or chronic diseases that affect their sexual and reproductive health are normal. This type of prejudice creates a gap in terms of information on this subject; very little is said about it and there are almost no surveys, specific indicators, and qualitative studies, among others, about sexuality for the elderly.
For this reason, it is important to develop a Community of Practice to encourage the generation, exchange, appropriation and dissemination of knowledge and scientific evidence on sexuality and its relationship with ageing, for the recognition that older people can and deserve to enjoy a satisfying sexual life, within the framework of promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights.
There are currently no annual activities planned.
