We are super excited to have a new addition to our Share-Net team! Patricia has joined our team for the next 5 months to complete an internship as part of her Master’s degree. Below is a short piece written by Patricia to introduce herself.
Hi, I am Patricia, and I am doing my internship at Share-Net International as a part of my master, the Gender Studies Program at Utrecht University. I am from Galicia and I have been living in the Netherlands for the last seven years and a half.
I graduated in clinical psychology more than a decade ago. After graduating, I was working as a psychologist in international adoption and in some psychology cabinets, while engaging in different social projects. Four years ago, I specialized in psychosocial intervention in migrants, excluded and social minorities at Barcelona University. These studies led me to do a little research on women in migration that I approached from a gender perspective. Since then, I am more aware of the need to maintain this approach not only in psychology but also in other fields.
SNI wants to analyze how to what extent SRHR strategies has been used combined with Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (GEWE) strategies, and how to incorporate gender equality in its knowledge management strategies. Therefore, I will review how GEWE has played a role in its past activities, provide an overview of international organizations working on GEWE, synthesize research and interventions that show impact where SRHR and GEWE interventions are combined.
I am looking forward to put into practice the analytical skills and the knowledge acquired during my master. Share-Net International is giving me the opportunity to apply those skills in a dare environment that focus on SRHR with a gender perspective, I am willing to accept this challenge.
I have three passions: chocolate, cinema and reading. I love expending time with my girlfriend and friends, and I also try to see my family as much as I can despite the distance.
