The research and insight team at 2CV has recently conducted formative, exploratory insight for the British Council on youth’s needs in Kenya. The project aimed to include the youth voice in future-scoping, and is one of a series of Next Generation explorations of needs and tension within ‘youth bulge’ nations. The report launches later this month, alongside a literature review and quantitative work overseen by the British Council Kenya team.
The project is broad and took a participatory approach, combining a range of depth and group interviews, community immersions, WhatsApp sessions, and work with the Kenyan youth task force to develop a rounded picture of youth’s current lives and ambitions for the future. Topic coverage includes hopes around education, employment, health and physical safety, and relationships.
