Lilianne Ploumen (1962) is the founder of She Decides. With this initiative, she became the winner of the Machiavelliprijs 2017 and on March 8 this year she receives the Aletta Jacob Prize. Ploumen used to be Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation. During her ministry, she set up the fund in response to the actions of US President Trump, who withdrew all funding for contraception, abortion and family planning abroad. Institutions that, in addition to abortions, also offer items such as contraceptives and maternity care, lose a lot of income. She Decides is committed to the right of girls and women around the world to choose whether they want children, when they want it and with whom. The international broad support that Lilianne Ploumen has brought about makes it clear that the clock cannot be reversed, this is a way forward! She Decides brings a message of hope, has an impact and unites.
