The ‘Together We Understand’ Project was created to address a strong need that has been identified amongst Sub-Saharan African Migrants (SAM) affected by HIV to enhance the current communications around HIV and treatment.
Through the creation of visual tools, the program tries to address this need. ‘Together We Understand’ relies on a community-driven approach where volunteers from the SAM community take the lead to ensure that all persons have access to information on treatment that is understandable to them. The ‘Together We Understand’ program empowers both the healthcare professional and patient to address cultural and language barriers when engaging in communication of information related to medical care.
