The report is launched in conjunction with IPPF’s annual #I Decide What Happens to My Body campaign , an animation on medical abortion https://www.ippf.org/idecide/ and aMedical Abortion Commodities Database (www.MedAb.org) with information on qualitymisoprostol, mifepristone and co-packaged mifepristone and misoprostol (combipacks) that are registered and available at the country level.

Her in charge: medical abortion and women’s lives calls on Governments to urgently and significantly scale-up medical abortion services embedded in health systems, including self-administered medical abortion, as a core part of sexual and reproductive health and rights and the realisation of women’s rights.

It examines the promises, challenges and risks of expanding access to medical abortion to support women to decide the best method for themselves; surgical or medical abortion, and in facilities or at home. The report brings together the latest evidence highlighting good practice and identifying existing gaps in medical abortion strategies – and makes recommendations for coordinated action to make safe and legal abortion a reality for all women and girls.  A digital summary of the report can be accessed here: https://www.ippf.org/herincharge
